The information quoted by morpheus is quite correct. you can attend board meetings as a director although honorory or because of your extensive shareholding. you cannot be a salaried, contracted or basically compensated director or board member. you cannot take salaries but can take dividends (profit). you can also apply for any licenses or authorizations required for the business in your name. just make sure you dont write anything off in your name to save the taxes on the dividends because that will show your active involvement (day to day) which you cannot have.
The board issue does get very confusing. For example, an H1 is invited to be on the advisory board of a company and they grant the H1 some stock options. Due to regulations applicable in your state of residence in USA, we regret that, at present, we are unable to continue offering SBI Express Remit - US (our product using direct debit facility through ACH) till further notice.
We are engaged in meeting the state's current regulatory requirements, and it will be our endeavor to restore to you at the earliest the convenience you have been enjoying. Meanwhile, you may use the aid of Rapid Remittance (Web-assistance for tracking wire transfers) when you use wire transfer from your bank to send funds to your beneficiary accounts in India.

I have had situations where CIS has issued more than one RFE, but only about twice in 12 years of immigration practice.

As you are from Turkey I think you should not be worried. From Oct 1 new visa numbers would be available and you should be current from then on. Only India, China, Mexico and Philipines are affacted coutries where dates get retrogressed due to unavailability of visa numbers. So you should not worried about your dates being current.

I was planning to go for my GC but my plans have recently changed. I am planning to get married in 2009 Summer (earlier is not possible). I have done my research and found out that if I receive my GC before I get married, it will be very difficult to get my spouse here.
I am expecting to get the LC in about 4 months. Then, most probably I can file I-140 and I-485 concurrently as the visa numbers will be available for my case. However, I am not planning to do it anymore due to the reasons mentioned above.
So, here are my questions:
Now, the new rule tells that LC certification must be used within 180 days. So, can I just file I-140 while single and even though my visa numbers are current for I-485 (Can I seperate I-140 and I-485 and save I-1485 for after marriage - Summer 2009). Does it matter for the purposes of I-140, if I am single - and then add my spouse to I-485 in the US (She will be on H-4 with me here)?
I am not planning to change my job. So, would my I-140 have an expiration date?

The reason I asked - I got the impression that IV is for the "highly qualified" people. I know "highly qualified" is a subjective term. I did 3 yrs bachelors in commerce from India. I was not sure if I am "highly qualified" or not. Reading through a forum I came to know about the SKIL bill - which I don't think is for guys with my qualification.
Is IV only pursuing SKIL bill or are there any other bills that would benefits people like me? If there are, then where can I read about those provisions? I want to browse though them and want to see if it would help my case.

As you might be aware that you will be filing the your case under EB3 and we have many members with your scenario (including educational qualifications)So by being an active member on IV,you will have access to information that is hard to find.
If you go through the IV agenda,if you will know more about the bills IV is pursuing.

You mean to say even the priority date is not transfered from eb3 to eb2 I140 and if the priority date is current ( for example, eb3 date was March 2005 and eb2 date was 2008, and now the eb2 date is current as it passed eb3 March 2005 ).
A) In the above situation, can some one do the interfile?
B) Is that possible to port the date from eb3 I140 to eb2 I140 if the eb3 was approved using substitute labor?

My status on the DOL website shows 'CERTIFIED'. How long after status 'certified' will the attorney get hard copy of the approval notice so we can proceed wth I-140. It has been almost 1 and 1/2 weeks since I saw my status as certified.
Also, how soon after applying I-485 can we travel abroad.
